What to Bring to Detox

Our Recommendations on What to Bring to Detox

Drug and alcohol detox requires strength and perseverance from people who are ready to beat addiction. At Boca Cove Detox, we are here to help people take that difficult first step. Our compassionate and skilled staff supports patients and provides necessary medications to help them feel more comfortable while they detox. When planning to enter drug and alcohol detox, it is essential to know what to bring and what to leave at home.

Important Items to Bring

Patients can keep certain personal items with them. These are some examples of what to bring to detox that will be useful during the process:

  • Cosmetic products in a zip-lock bag
  • Hygiene accessories in a zip-lock bag
  • Three changes of comfortable clothing in a small bag or backpack
  • Personal identification, such as a passport, a driver’s license, or a birth certificate
Some items are allowed in the facility but not in patient rooms. We are happy to securely store such items while patients are with us. These are examples of other things that people may want to bring for us to keep safe:

  • Cash, credit cards, or wallets
  • Mobile phones, tablets, laptops, or other electronic devices
  • Toiletries, medical accessories, or beauty products that contain alcohol

Most toiletries are acceptable to bring. However, they should not contain alcohol. Since our facility has designated smoking areas, people who smoke may bring their cigarettes.

*Boca Cove Detox is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Carefully consider what you will bring to detox.

Prohibited Items During Detox

There are some things that we encourage people to leave at home. Any of the following items are not permitted:

  • Sharp objects or any weapons
  • Clothing with offensive, violent, or explicit words or images
  • Stuffed toys and pillows
  • Fabric softener, laundry detergent, or related products
  • Cameras, video recorders, or similar recording devices
  • Food items or drinks
  • Pornographic videos, magazines, or accessories
  • Illegal drugs or paraphernalia

Our team reserves the right to prohibit any other accessory or device that may be dangerous or pose risks to others in the facility. We work hard to create a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment.
